Extended Day

Extended day is a non-profit, after school organization located at Benton Elementary. The Extended day  program provides opportunities to support learning and
development after the school day is complete.

While working with highly qualified staff members, the students will be offered opportunities in academic, social and self building activities. Homework help / tutoring is a must for all students at Extended day. Students are required to achieve and maintain a "B" average in order to stay in our program. We know that at times this could be a difficult task for students to maintain, this is why parent volunteer hours are essential. Throughout the school year, parents are required to fulfill their 5 hours of volunteer time within the program. Volunteer time could be meet by: attending homework help training, assisting with character building classes, chaperoning a field trip, participating in long term projects or facilitating Extra Day Activities. All of this is better explained on the Extended Day application.

Long Term Projects -
Long term projects are projects that can span from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Projects will vary from simple hands-on vase making to fully developing a robot that delivers a bouquet of flowers. No two long- term projects will be the same. Students and staff members will work our partners from  Columbia Career Center, Columbia College and University of Missouri to create learning experiences that will last a lifetime.
